Celebrating the Life of

Mrs. Sheila Menerva Rawlings-Argyle

June 19, 1931 – October 16, 2026

“Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.”

A Beautiful Life

On June 19, 1931, a beautiful soul entered this world on the island of Aruba. Raised in the village of Hopetown, Guyana, Sheila Menerva Rawlings- Argyle grew into a woman of remarkable strength, determination, and grace. Throughout her 95 years, she lived a life filled with love, laughter, hard work, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Sheila shared 63 years of marriage with her beloved husband, the late William “Sonny” Argyle, a dedicated firefighter. Together, they established their home in Tucber, New Amsterdam, Berbice, Guyana, where they raised their children, William, Algie, Oswald, Carol and Yonette

Later in life, Sheila migrated to the United States, where she devoted more than 20 years to the Symbral Foundation, compassionately caring for individuals with disabilities. Her dedication and strong work ethic remained with her throughout her life, and she continued working well into her eighties before retiring.

The Woman We Knew and Loved

Sheila was a woman of pride, elegance, and grace. She loved getting dressed up and always took great pride in her appearance. She carried herself with confidence and dignity, always making sure she looked her very best.

But her true beauty shone through her radiant smile, warm personality, and unforgettable laughter. Sheila had a beautiful, contagious laugh that could brighten any room, a sound her family will forever cherish.

She was plain-spoken, honest, and never afraid to express herself. If Sheila had something to say, she would certainly let you know! Yet she was also thoughtful and considerate, always mindful of how her words might affect others. She possessed a beautiful balance of strength, honesty, and kindness.

Above all, Sheila loved her family. Nothing brought her greater joy than being surrounded by those she loved. Family gatherings held a special place in her heart, and the laughter, conversations, and togetherness meant more to her than anything else.

Even in her later years, Sheila continued to enjoy life's simple pleasures, including her afternoon walks, conversations with her beloved sister Jean, and watching her favorite television programs.

Her Beautiful Legacy

Sheila leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories that will continue for generations.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, William, Algie, Oswald, and Yonette, and Carol; and her beloved grandchildren, Roshanna, Ranea, Asha, Akeem, ,Jammal, Kevan, Jeannel, Baby, Ryan,Jamal, and Kevan.

She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren, including Kairo, whom she had the special blessing of helping to raise; her beloved sister Jean; her favorite great-niece Sydney; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William “Sonny” Argyle.

Forever Our Queen

On October 16, 2026, at the age of 95, Mrs. Sheila Menerva Rawlings-Argyle completed her earthly journey.

Though our hearts are heavy, we celebrate a remarkable woman whose life was filled with strength, love, laughter, and beautiful memories.
