Shirley Temples Ricks

It is with profound sorrow and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of Shirley Temples Ricks, a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and sister. Born on March 31, 1944, in Balm, Florida, Shirley’s journey through life touched all who knew her with warmth, love, and an enduring spirit.

Shirley passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, in Sparta, Tennessee, surrounded by the tender presence of her daughters. Her departure marks the end of a life marked by devotion to family and the simple joys that enriched her days. She was a woman of remarkable character, whose personality radiated kindness and generosity.

She held a special place in the hearts of her loved ones, which included her daughter Renee and husband Jeff; daughter Sonja and husband Rodney; and son Jeffery and wife Susan. Her family circle was further blessed by five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, each of whom carried forward her legacy of love and laughter. Also living to remember and honor Shirley is her brother Doug and his wife Linda.

Though she is survived by these dear family members, Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Florence and Albert; her son Clinton; her sisters Betty and Mary Evelyn; and her brothers Albert S., Bill, and George.

Shirley found joy in the peaceful pastimes of fishing and cooking, filling homes with the delightful aroma of her famous biscuits and tomato gravy, treats fondly remembered and missed by all who had the privilege to taste them. Above all, she treasured spending time with her family, creating memories that will forever be a source of comfort and strength.

A visitation will be held to honor Shirley’s memory on May 26, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, Florida. This will be followed immediately by her funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. Her final resting place will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Davenport, Florida, where the interment will take place at 2:45 PM.

Shirley Temples Ricks leaves behind a legacy not only of familial bonds but of a life richly lived with love, kindness, and tenderness. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and eternally cherished by all who had the blessing of knowing her. May her soul find peace, and may those she loved find solace in the enduring memories she gifted to them.
