Virginia L. Davis

Virginia L. Davis, 83, of Haines City, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026. She was born on May 16, 1942, in Guntersville, Alabama, to Cecil and Hassie Bright Reno and the family moved to Haines City in 1957. Virginia was dedicated at all she did and faithfully carried out her career spanning over 50 years as a waitress and a bookkeeper. Virginia was a waitress at Horne's restaurant for a few years followed by waitressing at Lawhorn's Corner Drug Store in the soda fountain preparing and serving many "slawburgers" to local patrons up to the closing of Lawhorn's Corner Drug Store in 1985. Durning which Virginia was also a bookkeeper for her husband's business until his homegoing in 2004. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Davenport, Florida. Virginia loved the Lord Jesus and committed her life to serving Him faithfully.

Virginia loved gardening, growing a wide variety of vegetables and fruits which she was generous with the harvest the Lord gave her. As well as she also enjoyed cooking and reading. She was known for her strong will, gentle spirit, and genuine nature. Her kindness and dedication to her family and friends left a lasting impression on all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Hassie Reno; her husband, Gene Davis; and her sister, Barbara Miles. Virginia is survived by her loving daughter, Teresa Thompson and husband Mark of Haines City, Florida; brother, Lee Reno and wife Shirley of Longwood, Florida; sisters, Martha Glover of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, and Faye Rayborn of the state of Michigan; granddaughter, Kalee Thompson and her fiancé, Gachmy Charles, of Haines City, Florida; brother-in-law, Wayne Davis of Old Town, Florida, along with many nieces and nephews.
