Carl Green
Dec 18, 1933 — Jul 20, 2026
With deep sorrow and cherished memory, we announce the passing of Carl Green, who left us on July 20, 2026, at the age of 92. He was born on December 18, 1933, in the close-knit community of Eagle Lake, Florida to Alfred and Vinnie Green. Though he lost his father at a young age, Carl crafted himself a man of service to his family, his community and his nation.
Carl served in the Army, achieving the rank of Specialist 5 (SP5). He graduated from Florida State University with a degree in psychology and enjoyed friendly banter with University of Florida fans regarding the superiority of his alma mater. In his career, Carl was a juvenile parole officer, watching over the youths that had strayed from the straight and narrow path.
Carl's long life was defined by enduring love, resilience, and a steadfast devotion to those he held dear. This is especially true of his unwavering devotion to his beloved wife Joyce Green. Only a few years in their marriage, Joyce sustained a traumatic brain injury from a car accident. Despite this enormous challenge, Carl ensured she had a fulfilling life. He took her to see the beauty of our vast world, visiting countries in western Europe, eastern Europe, and Africa. They traveled the country on adventures with the help of his dearest friend Shirley Smith who sadly passed away only a month after Joyce.
Among those left to mourn and honor Carl's memory are his cousins, Becky Ball and Allen Whidden; his caring sisters-in-law, Ruth Whidden and Bobbye Whidden. Each knew Carl as a man of kindness, service, and humility. He made a quiet yet profound impact on everyone around him, always there to help family or friends in times of need.
The world is brighter for having known him, and a little dimmer now in his passing. As we remember Carl Green, let us celebrate a life marked by devotion, compassion, and quiet strength—the lasting gifts he leaves to all who were fortunate enough to share in his days
