Carl Herbert Peltzer

Apr 2, 1945 — Sep 18, 2026

Carl H. Peltzer, born April 2, 1945, in Mount Kisco, New York, to Alice and Carl Peltzer, took his final flight on September 18, 2026. In true Carl fashion, he likely left with the confidence of a man who knew he was right, the volume of a man who wanted everyone else to know it, and the stubbornness of a man who was absolutely not turning this plane around.

Carl was many things: a private pilot, a proud supporter of Civil Air Patrol, a member of United Commercial Travelers, a traveler, a movie quote enthusiast, and—by unanimous family vote—stubborn, loud, and nearly impossible to argue with. He could debate a point long after everyone else had surrendered, left the room, or forgotten the original topic. But beneath all that noise was a man loved by the people lucky enough to call him family.

He loved the freedom of flying, the fellowship of aviation, and the open road—or open sky—whenever there was somewhere worth going. Whether through private flying, Civil Air Patrol, United Commercial Travelers, or simply packing a bag and heading off on another adventure, Carl enjoyed the journey as much as the destination, especially if he could tell you exactly how it should be done.

Carl also had excellent taste in comedy. He loved Mel Brooks classics like Blazing Saddles and History of the World, Part I, and he would probably approve of this obituary only if it made at least one person laugh at an inappropriate moment. So, in his honor, we will simply say: may every campfire story told about him include laughter, dramatic timing, and just enough WIND to make the whole family think of him.

Carl is survived by his children AnnMarie Denney, Mary Frances Applegate, and Carl William Peltzer; his grandchildren Erin, Kevin, Christopher, Zachary, Emily, and Nicholas; and his great-grandchildren Grayson and Owen. He leaves behind a family who will miss his stories, his opinions, his love, his laughter, and yes, even the arguments he was certain he won.

Carl will be laid to rest at Bissell Cemetery in Augusta, Ontario. In his honor, his family asks friends and loved ones to crack open a Milwaukee’s Best beer, enjoy some peanuts, and remember him with a laugh. RIP.

In the spirit of History of the World, Part I, Carl would want his sendoff announced with great importance: “It’s good to be the king”—especially if the king could prove he was right, out-talk the room, and still get the last laugh.
