Evelyn Lois James

Evelyn Lois James, 76, of Winter Haven, FL passed away onTuesday, September 29,2026) at home surrounded by family.

Born February 15, 1950, in Pontiac, Michigan to Ernst and Elizabeth Mar (nee Krueger), she moved to Winter Haven 54 years ago. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and retired from the Polk County School Board after being a teacher and Eagle Lake Elementary for many years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and two siblings.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Bo James; two daughters, Jennifer Otto and her husband, Tom of Gainesville, FL and Janelle Pruitt and her husband Bill of Auburndale, FL; a son, Jon Hermelbracht of North Platte, NE; four siblings, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 11:00am, Monday, October 5, 2026, at Grace Luther Church in Winter Haven.  Funeral Services will follow immediately at 11:00am. Interment will be at Rolling Hills Cemetery.
