Ludie Gordy
Oct 1, 1949 — Jul 18, 2026
In Loving Memory of Ludie June Gordy “Ma” • “Granny” October 1, 1949 – July 18, 2026
With profound sadness and hearts full of love, we announce the peaceful passing of Ludie June Gordy, lovingly known as “Ma” to her children and “Granny” to her grandchildren. She entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the age of 76.
Born on October 1, 1949, in Chickamauga, Georgia, Ludie lived a life marked by unwavering faith, quiet strength, and unconditional love. She was fiercely independent, resilient through every season of life, and devoted above all else to God. Her faith was not something she simply spoke about—it was something she lived every day. She trusted the Lord through life’s greatest joys and deepest trials, finding peace in His promises and strength in His presence.
Ludie had a servant’s heart. She was selfless in every sense of the word, always placing the needs of others before her own. Whether it was offering a warm meal, a listening ear, heartfelt advice, or simply a comforting smile, she gave freely without ever expecting anything in return. She had a remarkable gift of making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved.
One of the most beautiful memories of Ma was how she would sit outside in her favorite chair. Family, neighbors, and even complete strangers would stop just to visit with her. There was something special about her presence—people were naturally drawn to her warmth, gentle spirit, and genuine kindness. She never met a stranger for long. A simple conversation with Ma often became a friendship, and countless lives were touched simply because she took the time to care. She had a God-given ability to make every person who crossed her path feel like family.
Nothing brought Ma more joy than her family. Her children were her greatest pride, and her grandchildren were the light of her life. Every visit, every hug, every laugh, and every story became another treasured memory. Being called “Granny” was one of the greatest honors of her life.
She is lovingly survived by her three children, Jenepher Lee Woods, Steven Boyd McBee, Hope McClure; her cherished sons-in-law, Fred McClure, Kyle Stephen Fournier, Mitchell Woods; her beloved grandchildren, Tori Stars McClure, Odesa McClure, Kaeleigh Ann Cadieu, Kya Ani Cadieu, Dallas Colton Woods, Austin Martin McBee, Giiomara McBee, Delayne Margaret McBee, Garrett Matthew McBee, Hannah Louise McBee, Kale Jeffrey Purcell, Madison Louise Purcell; her great-grandchild, Liam Kenneth McBee. She is also survived by her loving sister and favorite person, Beverly Kay Hemming. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, grandchild and sister, Walter Boyd Gordy, Pearl Edna Gordy, Drew Kelly McClure, Judy Lynn Gordy Lehman.
Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that Ma has heard the words she longed to hear: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23). Her greatest accomplishment was never measured by possessions or achievements, but by the love she poured into others and the faith she demonstrated every day. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, humility, generosity, and unwavering trust in God. Her love continues to live on through her children, grandchildren, family, friends, and every life she touched.
Though we will miss her smile, her laughter, and the comfort of hearing her voice, we rejoice in knowing she is now whole, at peace, and safely home with her Heavenly Father. One day, by God’s grace, we will see her again.
Forever our Ma. Forever our Granny. Forever in our hearts.
“Her life was a blessing. Her memory a treasure. She was faithful to God, devoted to her family, and loved beyond words. Her legacy of love will live on forever.”
There is now an empty chair where Ma once sat, but to those who knew and loved her, it will never truly be empty. It was more than just a place to rest—it was where countless conversations were shared, prayers were whispered, laughter echoed, and strangers became friends. Anyone walking by could expect to be greeted with a warm smile, a kind word, or an invitation to stop and visit. That chair became a symbol of her generous heart, and though it now sits quietly, it will forever remind us of the remarkable woman who filled it with love, compassion, and grace.
Though our hearts ache with her absence, we rejoice knowing she is now in the presence of the Lord she loved so faithfully. Her greatest accomplishment was not measured by wealth or possessions, but by the lives she touched through her unwavering faith, her selfless spirit, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humility, compassion, and devotion to God that will continue to inspire her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, family, friends, and even the strangers whose lives she brightened with a simple smile or wave.
Forever our Ma. Forever our Granny. Forever in our hearts.
Walter’s words
As time goes by, I see so much of joy that life does give. I see the sunshine and flowers, and they make me want to live. Wherever I go I always find some beauty to enjoy. And this brings back fond memories of days when but a boy. The swimming hole, the little stream where I always love to fish. And all those many pleasures then fulfilled my every wish. Those happy days I spent at School the many games we used to play. It seems we all were happy then, but times have changed today. But still, I know I'm happy now and really glad to be. Contented with the things that life has given unto me. And far from over the distance the echoes from enemy guns will come. And the flying blast of trumpet and the rattling roll of the drum. As our grandsire used to say the end no man can see. Will give myself to our country and all my prayers to thee.
