Pastor Kent E. Rogers

Pastor Kent Rogers, 73, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on November 27, 1952, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, to Doyle and Georgie Rogers (née Lewis), Kent moved to Florida more than 53 years ago. In addition to 10 years of service as an evangelist, many years of service to various Church of God state boards, and pastoring three churches, he faithfully served as Pastor of Highlands Church of God for over 30 years until his retirement. 

 In recent years, he was a devoted member of Renovation Church in Lakeland. Kent had a deep love for God’s creation and spent countless hours outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed playing golf, cheering on the Tampa Bay Rays, and doing woodworking projects. Above all, he was a mentor, encourager, and loyal friend to everyone who knew him. He loved spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Doyle Rogers and James Rogers.

Kent is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cindy Rogers; his son, Jason Rogers, and wife Cara; his daughter, Jessie Motley, and husband Mike; his brothers, Frank Rogers and wife Mary, and Curtis Rogers and wife Book; and his three cherished grandchildren, Lillian Rogers, Izzy Goodman, and Malachi Goodman.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Legacy Church, 201 Dickey Road in Auburndale. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 2:00 p.m., with interment immediately afterward at Auburndale Memorial Park.
