Charles John Anderson

Charles John Anderson passed away peacefully in Tucson, Arizona, on September 10th, 2026, following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease and dementia.

Born on January 6th, 1944, Charles grew up in Westbrook, Minnesota. His life was shaped by hard work, service, family, and a determination to do things his own way. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966 before beginning his career as a mechanical engineer in Billings, Montana.

Charles was a hardworking and dedicated man who took pride in providing and caring for his family. He could be stubborn - sometimes very stubborn - but that same determination was part of what made him who he was. He was also caring, generous, and loyal to the people he loved.

He found happiness in the simple things: working with his hands in his woodworking shop, trout fishing, camping, watching football, listening to country music, and traveling. He especially enjoyed his travels to Italy and the memories made along the way.

Charles also had a great sense of humor and a confidence that was uniquely his own. He loved to say, "Oh Lord it's hard to be humble - when you're perfect in every way." Those who knew him can probably hear him saying it now.

Charles shared 59 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Kathy. Together they built a family and a life filled with memories, challenges, adventures, and love. His greatest legacy is the family he leaves behind.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Anderson; his children, Jennifer Newberry (Marty) and Jack Anderson; his grandchildren, Tyler Mitchell (Nicole), Connor Mitchell (Shelby), and Ethan Anderson; his great-grandchildren, Titus, Sully, and Atlas Mitchell; and his sister, Millie Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Hilma Anderson; his brothers, John Max Anderson and Mark Anderson; and his sister, Adaline Rossow.

Although Alzheimer's took away so much during his final years, it cannot erase the life Charles lived or the love he gave. His family will remember the man he was - his strength, his stubbornness, his generosity, his humor, and the countless memories that will remain long after he is gone.

Charles was loved. He was important. He made a difference. And he will be missed more than words can say.
