Charles Edward "Chuck" Dockery

Charles Edward "Chuck" Dockery, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29th, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona.

Chuck was born on May 6th, 1939, in Lockport, New York, to Francis and Dorothy Dockery. He grew up in Lockport alongside his siblings, Barbara, Jim, Joe, and David, and graduated from DeSales High School. Over his life, Chuck resided in Lockport and Buffalo, New York, before moving to Tucson, Arizona. It was in Tucson where he married his beloved wife, Joyce, on April 11th, 1986.

Chuck was a man who brought immense joy, warmth, and laughter to everyone he met. He was known for his playful sense of humor, his legendary crazy costumes, and a rare ability to engage in deeply loving and meaningful conversations. He cherished spending time with Joyce, taking long walks, and caring for their dogs. A passionate fan of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres, Chuck also found peace through travel, especially int he mountain air of Pinetop and Mount Lemmon, often with the music of Willie Nelson playing in the background. He especially loved cruising, where he delighted in discovering new places, making memories, and sharing adventures with Joyce and cherished friends. Time spent with dear friends was among his greatest joys, and the friendships he built over the years were a treasured part of his life. Peaceful, funny, and loving, Chuck truly made the world a brighter place.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Dockery (of Tucson, AZ); his children, Tracy LeBranti, and her husband, Gerald (of Saugus, MA); David Dockery and his wife, Julie (of Parker, CO); Michele Putnam and her husband, Todd (of Tucson, AZ); and Charlie Dockery and his wife, Erin (of Arlington, VA). He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Caroline, Jason, Jordan, Sydney, Emmy, Becca, Brit, Kayla, Colleen, Brendan, and Patrick. He is also lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, and other family members, all of whom held a special place in his heart and were blessed by his love, laughter, and generous spirit.

Chuck's kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be deeply missed, but the joy he brought to so many lives will never be forgotten.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Pima Animal Care Center or the American Cancer Society.
