Deborah A. Grabowski (Miss Debi)
Feb 2, 1956 — Apr 26, 2026
Deborah A. Grabowski, affectionately known to many as Miss Debi, passed away on April 26th, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 70 due to complications related to lung cancer and COPD.
She was born on February 2nd, 1956, in Buffalo, New York, to parents, Alfred Herod and Mary (Dombrowski) Herod and spent time throughout her childhood creating memories with her brother, Alfred (Chuck) Herod. Her journey in Buffalo also included meeting Joseph Grabowski, with whom she created a lasting and loving partnership – the two joining together in marriage in a beautiful August wedding.
Deborah’s life was marked by a profound dedication to both the arts and the education of young people with unique needs. After graduating from South Park High School in Buffalo, her passion for dance blossomed and grew into a lifelong vocation. She played a significant and influential role in Tucson’s dance community, serving as a Dance Instructor for Pima County Parks and Recreation. She was also the proud owner of Dance Unlimited and Agape Dance, where she cultivated creativity and discipline among countless students. Beyond her studio teaching career, Deborah also contributed significantly as a Special Education Assistant within the Amphitheater School District, lending her compassionate and patient spirit to El Hogar High School, Painted Sky Elementary School, and Donaldson Elementary School. Her commitment to special education underscored her deep belief in nurturing every child’s potential.
Deborah was preceded in death by her parents: Alfred and Mary Herod, her father-in-law: Joseph S. Grabowski, her mother-in-law: Lillian Grabowski, and her step mother-in-law: Patricia Grabowski.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Grabowski, who stood by her side through all her endeavors and challenges. Her legacy also lives on through her children: Alyson (David) Klienman, Jamie Grabowski, Kyle Grabowski, and Jillian (Jerod) Rosen, and her grandchildren: Ian Grabowski, Gabrielle Klienman, Noah Klienman, and Judah Rosen.
Three words that sum up Miss Debi’s life would be:
God – Family – Loved
Her strength in the face of adversity was emblematic of the many qualities she exhibited throughout her life—dedication, kindness, and a relentless pursuit of helping others find their voice and rhythm through dance.
As a dance instructor, educator, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Deborah’s impact is immeasurable. She leaves behind a community enriched by her artistry and compassion, and a family strengthened by her unwavering love. Her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her, and her life's work remains a testament to the power of passion and perseverance.
