Clyde D. Coleman

Clyde Dennis Coleman, 94, of Greensboro, died, Monday, September 21, 2026, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, on Friday, September 25, 2026, in the Lambeth Chapel of Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Service with Dr. Bill Coble and Dr. Darrell Waller officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home.

A native of Henry County, Virginia, Clyde was born on January 12, 1932. He was the son of the late Posey Kern Coleman and Mattie Lee Hollandsworth Coleman. Clyde was a faithful founding member of North Greensboro Church of God. He served as the secretary/treasurer of the church for many years. Clyde retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company after many years of faithful service. He enjoyed spending time with his son, working on cars. Clyde also enjoyed spending time out on the golf course when his health allowed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 72 years, Opal Mae Waller Coleman; daughter, Nancy Greeson; brothers, Kern Delayne Coleman, Wally June Coleman, Johnny Coleman, Michael Coleman, and Danny Dexter Coleman; and sister, Annette Goode.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Rodney Coleman; grandchildren, Terri Cook (Wes) and Candy Summerlin; great-grandchildren, Austin Kestner, Christian Summerlin, Wesley Cook, and J.T. Cook; great-great grandchild, Leia Kestner; brothers, Kenneth Coleman, Johnny Coleman, Randy Coleman, Danny Coleman, and Eddie Coleman; sisters, Martha Bohannon and Penny Gill; and a host of beloved extended family members and friends. Many thanks to his niece, Kathy Brooks, for all the wonderful care, companionship, and joy that she brought to him. She was like a second daughter to him.
