Frederick Larry Newnam, Sr.

GREENSBORO, NC – Larry, 93, was welcomed to his eternal home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, March 23, 2026.

Larry was born in Greensboro, NC on July 12, 1932, to the late Fred and Thelma Newnam. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Nancy, brother Gerald Newnam, and his sisters Sharon Warren and Beverly Welch.

He graduated from Greensboro Senior High School in 1951 and served in the United States Navy from 1951-1955. He went to work for the U.S. Postal Service as a Distribution Clerk in February 1955 and retired in January 1988 as Division Manager for Employment and Development. Larry was a member of Calvary Church where he enjoyed working with the hospital and shut-ins ministry with his wife. He also served for many years as an Elder at the Cathedral of His Glory.

Larry married Nancy Leonard in 1956, and together they had four children: Debra Thompson (Johnny) of Greensboro, Kim Jefferson (Ronnie) of Supply, NC, Freddy Newnam (Robin) of Browns Summit, NC, and Charles Newnam (Lisa) of Gibsonville, as well as ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, whom were his pride and joy.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 28th at 12:00PM in the Lambeth Chapel of Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Service, 300 West Wendover Avenue, Greensboro, NC. Visitation will take place from 11:00AM to 11:45AM in the Visitation Parlor at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park where US Navy Honors will be rendered.
