Isaac "Manny" Manuel Flores

Isaac "Manny" Manuel Flores, 93, of Greensboro passed away on June 12, 2026 under the care of Cone Health Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. Born in Deming, New Mexico, he was the son of the late Isaac and Maria (Turrieta) Flores and husband of the late Dorothy (Chambers) Flores.
Manny spent his career as a writer and editor in foreign and domestic bureaus for the Associated Press. Among his overseas posts was Havana, Cube, where he spent more than two years as the first and only resident American correspondent after the Bay of Pigs. After his retirement he wrote seven historical novels and non-fiction accounts.
Manny is survived by his son, Mike Flores and wife, Cathy; his grandchildren, Alissa Campbell (Rich), Alexa Butler (Blaine), Mickey Wellmon, and Corie Gordon (Aaron); his great-grandchildren, Rilee Campbell, Charlotte and Miles Gordon.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Frank Flores, Betty Trujillo and Hele Ochoa.
Per Manny's request, there will be no formal services held at this time.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Heart Association.
