Leon Troyces Cheek

The family of Leon Cheek mournfully share the news of his passing on Friday, May 8, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Vee Cheek of 50 years, her brothers, Chris and Bryan Milosky and Chris's wife, Kathy, and nieces, Caitlyn and Emmy, and nephew, Corey. Most importantly, his beloved two cats, Bonnie and Clyde.

Leon was born on April 17, 1953 in Greensboro NC to the late Harold and Lillian Cheek. He graduated from Walter Hines Page High School in Greensboro NC and attended North Carolina State University, studying textiles.

Though he studied textiles in school, Leon found his true vocation in baking, managing bakeries for Food World. In turn, this sparked a love of cooking. The teamwork between him and his wife Vee in the kitchen was awesome to see.

In later years he setup bakeries for Wenner Bread, Wetterau Inc., and Pillsbury, teaching people how to use their products.

He enjoyed Atlantic beach for body surfing and fishing, and loved to play bridge. His competitive edge showed in his love of bridge.

Leon and his wife, enjoyed going out to eat and exploring different cuisines.

The family will receive friends at Pierce-Jefferson Lambeth Chapel, 300 W Wendover Ave, Greensboro, NC 27401 on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 from 5:00PM-7:00PM. Funeral services will be held at Pierce-Jefferson Lambeth Chapel on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 10:00AM with Rev. Andy Curtis officiating. Interment will be at 11:00AM at Lakeview Memorial Park, 600 N O.Henry Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27405.
