Paul "Gene" Beaver
Jun 13, 1933 — Oct 22, 2026
Paul (Gene) Beaver passed away, Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Brookdale Senior Living with his daughter & grandson by his side.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at Forest Lawn Cemetery in the veterans section with full military honors.
Gene was born at home in Greensboro, North Carolina on June 13th 1933. The Middle son of Ella R. Beaver & Thomas Paul Beaver. At age seventeen he enlisted in the United States Navy, and served onboard the USS Duncan during the Korean War. He cherished his time at sea, making a lifetime of memories along the way. After his Navy stint, he went on to work in hotels in Miami & New Orleans before returning home to Greensboro. While working at Orkin Exterminators, he met his future wife Faye at Cone Hospital, where she was a dietician. They married in May 1960 and shared 55 years together before her passing. After Orkin, Gene was employed with Piedmont Natural Gas, where he retired in 1988 at the young age of 55. His years of retirement were filled with adventure, joining the Merchant Marines and traveling to Spain & South America. Gene’s love outside of family was his motorcycles. Over his motorcycling career he owned over 30 different bikes, but BMW was always his favorite. In 1972 he joined the BMW MOA and was the 242nd member, the organization now has nearly 25,000 members across the globe. While attending BMW Rallies over the country, he was always proud to show off his sub-300 member card.
His lifetime motorcycling milestones included travelling to 49 of the 50 states, all 10 Canadian Provinces, Mexico, and Europe. He was most at home on his 2-wheelers, a passion he was still maintaining at 90 years old. Who else but Gene rode 90 miles on his 90th birthday! Despite his world travels, one of his proudest achievements was right in his home state of North Carolina, traveling to & documenting all NC State Parks & 100 County Seats. Over his lifetime, he amassed over 500,000 miles on BMWs alone, a feat which he was very modest about.
Gene loved his family above all else, enjoying time with his grandkids & recent great-grand-daughter Lily, who lit up his world. He was a much loved uncle to his nieces & nephews, being remembered as the “cool uncle”, no matter where he was. He loved life and was blessed with great health all the way to the end. He imparted untold valuable life lessons to his grandchildren and was always a best friend to them.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Faye, and his two brothers Tommy & Wayne Beaver. He is survived by his daughters, Susan (Jeff) Czapiewski of Greer, SC & Anne Suits of Greensboro, NC. Grandchildren Mark (Jennifer) Czapiewski of Greer, SC, Emily Czapiewski of Greer, SC, Colby Suits of Raleigh, NC, Great-Granddaughter Lily Czapiewski of Greer, SC and fondest labrador companion, Boone. He was truly one of a kind & his presence will be missed tremendously by all who knew him.
The family would like to extend a deep thank you to the staff of Brookdale for his excellent care, to Maria for holding a special place in his heart over the years, and to all of his “guys”, who helped him stay young & were very dear to him! He loved you all & is riding high in heaven with his sweetheart!
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Gene's honor may be directed to the Randolph County Honor Guard or the local VFW chapter.
