Bonnie Foster Shadle

Bonnie Foster Shadle, 83, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on January 5, 1943, Bonnie graduated from Richlands High School before marrying the love of her life, Charles Wesley Shadle Sr., (known by Mike to family and friends) Together they shared more than 63 years of marriage, building a home filled with faith, laughter, hospitality, patriotism, and unconditional love.

Bonnie dedicated 21 years to Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, where she touched the lives of countless students and colleagues. She was also a faithful member of Welcome Door Baptist Church in Kernersville.

Family was the center of Bonnie's world. She was an incredible cook, and holidays at the Shadle home were treasured family traditions, filled with delicious meals, laughter, and togetherness. Her home was always open, not only to family but to the many friends of her children, Mike and Paulette. Teenagers always knew they would find a warm welcome, a good meal, and someone who genuinely cared about them. Bonnie had a gift for making everyone feel like they belonged.

She also loved cheering on the Atlanta Braves and rarely missed the chance to watch a game. Her quick wit, wonderful sense of humor, and joyful spirit brought smiles to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Bonnie is survived by her devoted husband, Mike; her daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and Steve Thompson; her son and daughter-in-law, Charles Welsey Shadle, Jr. (Mike) and Robin Shadle; her beloved grandchildren, Chase Thompson, Blair Thompson, April Thompson (Roger), Kyle Thompson, (Kelly), Tyler Shadle, Taylor Shadle, Hope Rennells, and Faith Rennells; and her great-grandchildren, Kaelyn, Colbe, and Harper.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pauline and Stephen Foster, her sister, Mary Elizabeth Foster Riggs, and brother, Murrill Foster.

Bonnie's legacy is one of love, generosity, faith, and family. She created a home where everyone was welcomed, cared for, and loved. Her family will forever cherish the memories she created, the traditions she established, and the example she set through a life lived with kindness, humor, and grace.

The family will receive friends at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home in Kernersville on July 12 at 1:00. A celebration of Bonnie's life will follow at 2:00 pm. Private family internment will take place in Morehead City, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a donation in Bonnie’s honor to Authoracare Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
