In Loving Memory of Christopher Devon Atkins
March 18, 1982 - June 23, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Christopher Devon Atkins (Chris), who departed this life on June 23, 2026, at the age of 44. Though his time with us was far too brief, Chris will be remembered for the love he shared, the lives he touched, and the memories he leaves behind.
Chris is survived by his wife, Katie; his son, Brodie; his mom and dad, Terri and Devon; his sister, Shana; his nieces, Alli, Keely, and Ashland; and his nephew, Bailey.
Chris was first and foremost a devoted husband and loving father. His family was the center of his world, and there was nothing he cherished more than the time he spent with them. Chris was a dedicated son to his mother and father and loving supportive brother to his sister.
His greatest joy was his son, whom he adored beyond measure, taking immense pride in watching him grow and encouraging him every step of the way. He was a constant source of unconditional love.
A native of Greensboro, North Carolina, Chris was known for his infectious smile, quick wit, and unique ability to make people laugh, even during life's most difficult moments. His warmth and sense of humor drew people to him, and his kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Chris’s passion for coaching basketball extended far beyond the game itself. He was a mentor, role model, and inspiration to countless young men. To him, the court was a classroom where he taught discipline, respect, accountability, and perseverance. Through his patience, wisdom, and unwavering belief in others, he helped shape not only better athletes but better people. He believed in developing young men of character, instilling in them confidence, toughness, and the values needed to succeed in life. He poured his heart into every player he coached, and his influence will continue to live on in the countless lives he impacted.
Chris leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, leadership, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, his compassion, his sense of humor, and the way he made everyone feel valued. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through Brodie (son), Katie (wife), Devon (dad), Terri (mom), Shana (sister), his nieces, and nephew, as well as the many lives he influenced.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
A celebration of Chris's life will be held at Wesleyan Christian Academy Gymnasium, 922 Eastchester Drive High Point NC 27262 on Monday, July 27th, 2026 at 6:30PM. The family will receive friends following the celebration of life service. In honor of Chris's passion for basketball, attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite basketball jersey.
