Clark Dorsett Bunting

July 30, 1951 — May 21, 2026

Clark Dorsett Bunting of Kernersville passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, after yearslong complications from Heart Failure. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Randi Bunting of the home, his children, Clark Bunting II (Daniella) of Belews Creek and Jennifer Bunting (John) of Raleigh, a brother, Duane Bunting of Asheboro, a sister, Lauren Hardin (Chris) of Asheboro, grandsons Jacob Bunting (Abby) of Raleigh and Josh Bunting (Meghan) of Belews Creek, and his beloved Yorkshire Terrier Rudy.

Clark graduated from Asheboro High School in 1969 where he played on the varsity basketball team and played tuba in the award-winning Asheboro High School Band. He graduated from Western Carolina University in 1973, where he made friends for life with his Brothers of Pi Kappa Phi.

Clark spent his entire professional career at Handi-Clean Products of Greensboro. He started his career as a Territory Salesperson in Asheville and retired after 40 years of service as the President and Chairman of the Board.

In retirement he enjoyed coaching and attending his grandsons’ baseball, football, and basketball games, never missing one. He loved golfing with his buddies at Meadowlands Golf Course, who may or may not confirm his claims to multiple holes-in-one in the last couple years. He enjoyed holding court at his breakfast “meetings” at Fitz on Main. And when asked why he ate hamburgers every Saturday night, he replied simply: “That’s the rule.”

Whether you knew him as “Mole,” “Big Clark,” “Coach Senior,” “Paw Paw,” or “Dad,” Clark was a mentor, leader, and true friend to many. He treated everyone with respect and kindness and had an infectious smile that put you at ease. He leaves a lasting impact on his friends and family and will be forever missed.

A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, May 27th at 4:00PM at Kernersville Wesleyan Church, 930 N. Main Street, Kernersville, NC with Pastor Travis Shannon officiating.  Visitation will be held from 2:00PM to 3:45PM in the sanctuary of the church prior to the service.  Burial will follow in Mt. Gur Cemetery in Kernersville, NC.
