Doris Ellen Walters Wallace, 84, went Home at her home in Walkertown on September 7, 2026.
Funeral Services celebrating her life will be 11:00 AM Monday, September 14, 2026, at Crews Church with burial to follow in the cemetery.
Doris was born June 1, 1942, in Forsyth County to Mildred Luvenia Whicker and Ralph Jackson Walters. She graduated from Walkertown High School in 1960 and subsequently married John Thomas Wallace. After two decades as a devoted mother and homemaker, she earned a Diploma in Practical Nursing with Honors from Forsyth Technical Institute in 1982. After a year as an LPN at Baptist Hospital, she was a private duty nurse for over two decades with Professional Nurses Registry of Winston-Salem and also held numerous leadership positions within the organization.
Survivors include her son James Matthew Wallace of Walkertown; daughter Patricia Lynn Shewmaker and husband Chris of Dunwoody, Georgia; grandsons Zachary Shewmaker and Nicholas Kyle Shewmaker and granddaughter Caroline Shewmaker, all of Atlanta, Georgia; sister Vicki Flagler and husband Howard of Venice, Florida; brother Samuel L. Walters of Venice, Florida; niece Kimberly Flagler Heiple and husband Tim, and their children Jack and Grace of Holiday, Utah; niece Kerri Flagler Bermudez and husband Coco, and their children Alexa and Gabriella of Seminole, Florida; niece Elizabeth Walters Tretton and husband Philip, and their children Jameson, Magnolia, and Harrison of Richmond, Rhode Island; an extended family and friends also survive.
