Douglas Webb Cooper of Kernersville passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 3, 2026. He was born in Asheville, June 6, 1958, to Jim and Clara Cooper. He graduated from A.C. Reynolds High School in 1976. Doug was a man of strong faith who loved Jesus, his family, and his friends - which you immediately became, because he never met a stranger. He lived his life with passion and purpose.

Doug served 21 years in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic, including the honor of serving on Air Force One, where he later became crew chief. He retired as a Master Sergeant. He continued his career in aircraft maintenance in Mississippi and North Carolina until he received the call into ministry. He was ordained in 2011 and served as worship pastor at Archdale First Church of God and chaplain for American Legion Post 87 in High Point.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Clara; father-in-law, Bud; and sister, Linda. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Lisa; son, Ben (Stephenie); daughters, Whitney and Laura; granddaughters, Brighton and Emma; brothers, Steve (Tom) and Mark (Gina); sister, Katrina; mother-in-law, Marie; brother-in-law, Del; and a large extended family whom he loved fiercely. He also leaves behind his Archdale First Church family, Kairos brothers, and American Legion Post 87 family.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Grace Point Church in Archdale. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Please wear a Hawaiian shirt to honor Doug’s memory.

Following the service, American Legion Post 87 in High Point invites family and friends to join them for a meal and fellowship.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kairos of NC or the Wounded Warrior Project Foundation.
