Elizabeth (Bettie) Moody
Bettie was born in Anniston, Alabama in 1940. Upon graduating from high school, she attended Auburn University. She worked for Social Security in Anniston. Bettie met her husband, Dale, while he was stationed at Ft. McLellan in Anniston. They were married in 1964 and moved to California. Bettie also worked for Social Security while there.
They lived in California for a year and a half, then moved to Venezuela where both their children were born. They then moved to Mexico City followed by Winston-Salem. After a brief time living in Raleigh, they moved to Kernersville. They then settled into retirement life at River Landing in Colfax, NC.
Dale and Bettie loved to travel. They visited all 50 states and many countries in Europe, South and Central America, as well as Australia. Bettie loved to crochet and play bridge. She loved people and never met a stranger.
Bettie is survived by her son, David Moody (Nancy) and daughter, Cris Moody; granddaughters, Holly (Forrest) Hahn and Sarah Moody; and her great-granddaughter, Alana Hahn.
Funeral services celebrating Bettie's life will be held at 2:30PM on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Main Street UMC, 306 S Main St, Kernersville, NC 27284 with Wayne Purdy officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30PM-2:20PM in the common area prior to the service. To honor Bettie's memory, the family requests that attendees wear purple. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Main Street United Methodist Church in Kernersville, North Carolina.
