Mattie W. Nuckles

Kernersville, NC – 90, Ms. Mattie W. Nuckles went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by her family on Friday, May 8, 2026.

She was born in Colfax, NC on February 25, 1936, to the late Walter and Hettie (Shields) Westmoreland.

In addition to her parents, Mattie was preceded in passing by her loving husband of 58 years Charles Raymond Nuckles, and her son-in-law David Ammons.

Mattie graduated from Colfax High School in 1953. She worked for Fabristeel Corporation for many years as a bookkeeper. She enjoyed cooking and tending to flowers, especially her immaculate flower bed at home. She loved Ginger Ale and spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids the most. She was a non-resident member of Berea Baptist Church in Mantachie, MS.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Angela Ammons; son, Jason Nuckles (Sheri); grandchildren, Hillaire Archer (Wright) and Jacob Nuckles (Kristin); step-grandson, Scott Ammons; great-grandchildren, William Archer and Rory Nuckles; her sister, Carolyn Hedgecock; close friend and special sister-in-law, Doris “Toots” Nuckles; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Service, 213 West Mountain Street, Kernersville, NC, with Visitation from 10:00AM to 10:45 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Smith Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Colfax, NC.

In lieu of flowers, Mattie’s family has requested donations be made directly to Anchora Compassionate Care, Gibson House, 2150 NC Hwy 65, Reidsville, NC 27320. Her family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to their great staff.
