Max J. Vibbert

Max J. Vibbert, 97, was called home by the Lord on May 14, 2026. A memorial service celebrating his life will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 6, at River Landing at Sandy Ridge, 1575 John Knox Drive, Colfax, NC, 27235
Max was born on November 26, 1928 to the late Charles Eugene and Emma (Baker) Vibbert. He served in the Air Force from 1948-1952, serving at bases in Spokane, Washington and Topeka, Kansas. He attended both Michigan State University and the University of Michigan, earning a BS and MA in Education from MSU, and a second MA from U of M in Library Science. He worked for the Midland (Michigan) Public School System as an Industrial Arts teacher at Northeast Intermediate and in the Library at H. H. Dow High School.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia May Watson Vibbert, his brothers Glenn, Kenneth, Donald and sister Ruth Edgerton.
Survivors include his daughter Pamela Miller (Paul); son Douglas Vibbert (Cindy Wallach); grandchildren, Ian (Christine) Miller, Sean Miller, Aaron Miller, Zach Wallach and Naia Wallach; brother, Wayne Vibbert (Barbara) and many nieces and nephews.
A reception will be held at River Landing after the service. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be sent to Presbyterian Homes Foundation, Inc. 2109 Sandy Ridge Rd., Colfax, NC 27235 or to Hospice of the Piedmont.
