William "Bill" Clifford Shepherd, 92, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina passed away on July 14, 2026 under the care of Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. Born in Ashe County, North Carolina on November 21, 1933, he was the son of the late Walter T. and Alta M. Shepherd and husband of the late Betty Shepherd.
Bill served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956 in Korea. He graduated from Nathans Creek High School and later from the Nashville Auto Diesel Welding College. He also spent two years at Piedmont Bible College. Bill retired from Yellow Roadway after 30 years. He married Betty Ann Jones (Shepherd) on September 2, 1955 and she preceded him in death on May 27, 2009. Bill and Betty were both members of Welcome Door Baptist Church.
Bill is survived by his son, Tommy Shepherd (Tammy); his daughter, Theresa Ballard (Keith); his three granddaughters, Jessica Rock (Andrew), Ashley Shepherd (Kyle), and Emily Minor (TC); his nine great-grandchildren, Aubrie, Jaydin, Braxtin, Colton, Landin, Maylee, Westin, Callie, Coby and awaiting a new great-grandbaby girl, Emrie.
The family will receive friends at Welcome Door Baptist Church, 6741 Vance Rd, Kernersville, NC 27284 on Saturday, July 18, 2026 from 12:00PM-1:00PM. Funeral services will follow beginning at 1:00PM with Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Walkertown, 5676 Old Walkertown Rd, Walkertown, NC 27051.
