Elaine G. Hand

Elaine McLeod Dine Hand entered into rest on January 8, 2013 and has started her next journey. Born in Albany, New York, she was the daughter of the late Lucille Wendell White and John McLeod. Elaine was educated at the convent of Notre Dame in Ottawa, Canada. Shortly after graduation she settled in Syracuse, New York where she fell in love and married the late Gus A. Dine (Augustus). Gus and Elaine were blessed with two children, Darrel and Valerie. They were later divorced and she settled in West Winfield, New York with her mother and adored sister. Elaine had many talents. In West Winfield she owned and operated Duchess Beauty Salon for many successful years. After suffering a horrible automobile accident, she closed her business and went on to start the B.O.C.E.S. Educational Program for Cosmetology for New York State. During that time, she married John H. Hand and they enjoyed many years together before divorcing. After the birth of her first grandchild, Elaine sold everything and moved to Colorado with her faithful dog Toots. Elaine enjoyed employment teaching at Sharon Doran Beauty School until her unexpected retirement. Survivors include her daughter and family, Valerie, Steve, Ashlee (Mikhail Angstrom) and Alex Holden, her beloved son, Darrel M. Dine, along with her sister and family, Katie, Neal, Jim and Christy Norris. And most recently the birth of her precious great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Joy. A Memorial Mass will be held at Ave Maria Catholic Church, 9056 E. Parker Road in Parker on Monday, January 14, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. Service Information
