Joyce Marie Edwards

Former East Texas resident Joyce Marie Maignaud Edwards entered the gates of Heaven from Castle Rock, Co on May 19, 2013. Joyce was born Nov 29, 1926 in Houston, Texas to Dominick Perry Maignaud and Mable Marie Wolkarte. She graduated from Reagan HS in Houston and married Elder McKenzie (Mack) Edwards in Feb 1945, with whom she was married for 57 years until his passing. With her husband, Joyce owned and operated Edwards' Mobile Feed Service in Clarksville, Tx for several years. She was an enthusiastic campaigner for her husband's successful efforts to represent Lamar and Red River counties in the 58th and 59th legislature of the Texas State House. When Mack became the administrator of the newly created Westbury Hospital in Houston, it was Joyce who applied her creative interior decorating skills to help make the facility appealing. Her entreprenurial spirit fostered itself, along with her husband, in the ownership and operation of Terrace Towers Lodge in Red River, NM for over seventeen years before moving to Lake Cypress Springs and Mt Vernon, Tx. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and even great-grandmother. She enjoyed travel, sewing and painting landscapes in oils. She is survived by her children E.M.(Mack) Edwards II and wife Becky of Byers, Co; Peggy Galvani and husband Wayne of Larkspur, Co; grandchildren Gina Gordon and husband Dave of Gulfport, MS; Tanya Blevin and husband Chris of Parker, Co; McKenzie and Carson Edwards of Byers, Co; great-grandchildren Candice and Ava Gordon and Luke and Blayke Blevin; sister in law Ann Whitener and husband Ron of League City, Tx; sister in law Debbie Norris and husband Larry of Huntsville, Tx; and aunt Jo McKenzie as well as many cousins. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Castle Rock Assisted Living and Legacy Hospice for their loving care. A memorial service will be held at the Harvey Funeral Home in Mt Vernon, Tx on June 27th at ll AM.
