Kirsten Norbie Poveda

09/06/1985 — 05/05/2026

For forty years, this world glimmered with Kirsten.

Deeply empathetic, fiercely kind, a wonderfully playful sense of humor. She was a force of goodness. To know Kirsten was a great gift.

Born in Minnesota and raised in Montana, it was clear from her earliest days that Kirsten was destined to have an extraordinary impact. Wherever she went she created vibrant communities with her endless positive energy and effervescent spirit. From college at St. Kate’s, to her growing professional career in Chicago, and most recently with her family in Parker, Colorado, Kirsten touched so many lives.

Whatever the need, Kirsten was always there to give her support, and she would move mountains to help. Collecting supplies for those who had lost their homes in fires, organizing events, volunteering with homeless youth, sending care packages, teaching free yoga classes, and joining forces with her fellow mom tribe to ensure a thriving place for their families. She was quick to embrace others, she loved unconditionally, and she lived with her heart.

Kirsten had so many talents, and she wove them together to create a richly-lived life. She was building a successful career in business with wonderful mentors. In turn, she was a mentor to many others. Colleagues became family. It was another community she created.

Daughter, sister and best friend, wife. Kirsten was so beloved by her family, and she brought them tremendous joy and comfort. But, above all else, Kirsten was a mother. With her husband, she was raising two incredible girls to whom she gave unending love. Already they carry on Kirsten’s thoughtful, sensitive kindness, her playfulness, and her deep care for others. They were her greatest joy, and she was so proud of them.

If you’ve seen Kirsten smile, you know how radiant she was. When you look to the horizon at daybreak and see that brilliant light beginning, think of Kirsten.

Kirsten is survived by her husband Jorge Poveda, children Isla and Ava, parents Mary Lou Muyres Norbie and Bob Norbie, brother Erik Norbie (Cecilia Lorenz), parents-in-law Jorge and Patricia Poveda, sister-in-law Marcie Torres (Antonio Torres), and many other loving family. She also had many profound and dear friendships. Her friends were family and they continue to lift up and honor her spirit.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on June 20th at Joy Lutheran Church, 7051 Parker Hills Ct, Parker, Colorado. Lunch to follow.

Memorial gifts to honor Kirsten may be given to a trust that will be established for her daughters in care of Bob Norbie.
