Michael Noon

Michael “Mike” Noon, 82, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 23, 2026. He spent his final day exactly as he would have wanted: surrounded by the family he adored, sharing stories, laughter, and an abundance of love. Mike never met a stranger; he possessed the rare gift of genuine curiosity, and when he asked how you were, he listened with his whole heart.

Born on July 11, 1943, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Mike’s journey truly took shape in Akron, Ohio, which he considered his hometown. Raised in a vibrant Irish-American household, he grew up amidst a lively circle of his parents, many siblings, grandparents, aunt, uncles, and many cousins. A natural leader and a standout athlete, Mike excelled in football and track at Kenmore High School (Class of 1961). His prowess on the gridiron earned him a scholarship to the University of Akron, where he discovered his professional calling, earning both a B.A. (1966) and an M.A. in Speech Pathology (1971).

Though Mike remained humble about his military tenure, he served with distinction as a speech pathologist in the U.S. Army. He found profound purpose in helping wounded soldiers regain their voices through speech therapy—a rewarding experience that defined his early career. Upon returning to civilian life, he continued this work as a speech pathologist and football coach within Akron Public Schools, leaving a lasting impact on countless students.

In the late 1960s, Mike followed the call of the West, pivoting into sales and relocating to Colorado. It was there that he met the love of his life, Marcia Fox. In a legendary display of his trademark wit, Mike’s "opening line" was asking Marcia if she needed a fourth for a double date while her brother and sister-in-law were visiting. The two were wed in Vail, Colorado on February 15, 1974, beginning a 52-year marriage defined by love, humor, and devotion.

Mike and Marcia had two children, Conor and Kate, and settled in Parker in 1978. Mike became a pillar of the community, serving with the Boy Scouts as an Eagle Scout Coordinator, baseball coach, and a dedicated member and President of the Parker Optimist Club. Ever the entrepreneur, he founded Noon and Company, a successful commercial real estate firm, where he remained a respected fixture in the business community until his retirement.

Mike lived life in motion, whether he was fly-fishing a quiet stream, golfing, skiing, or playing tennis. Back home in Parker, his lawn was his sanctuary—not just for the manual labor he enjoyed, but for the social connection it provided. He spent hours working outside, often turning simple yardwork into an afternoon of conversation with every neighbor who passed by.

In his later years, Mike’s greatest joy was his role as "Papoo." He was overjoyed when his daughter Kate and her family returned from Seattle to Parker in 2014. Whether he was cheering at cross country/track meets, attending band concerts or plays, engaging in deep conversations with his grandson Jake, or “trash-talking” with grandson Hudson, “Papoo” was their biggest fan.

Even in retirement, Mike’s heart for service never wavered; he spent many years volunteering at Parker Adventist Hospital, offering the same warmth and comfort to patients and families that he gave to everyone he met.

Mike’s legacy is carried on by his wife, Marcia Noon; his children, Michael Conor Noon and Kate Noon-Ulvila; son-in-law, Eric Ulvila; and his cherished grandsons, Jake and Hudson Ulvila.

He is also survived by his brother, Pat (Rachel) Noon; sister, Susie (Milan) Korora; sisters-in-law, Marlene Christenson and Connie Flanagan; brother-in-law, Eddie Fox; nieces/nephews, Mona Barz, Mark Christenson, Shaun (Cami) Flanagan, Shane Flanagan, Nick (Lori) Korora, Amy Korora, Micah Noon, and many great nieces/nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his youngest sister, Margaret “Peggy” Noon; infant sister, Jane Ellen Noon; brother-in-law, Boyd Christenson; and niece, Laura Christenson Espejo.

In keeping with Mike’s spirited nature, we will celebrate his life with an Irish Wake.

Attendees are encouraged to wear green and have a favorite Mike story ready to share if they wish. The service will be officiated by Mona Barz, a dear family member and hospice chaplain, to whom the family extends their deepest gratitude for her guidance and support through this time.
