Viola Rosemary Miller
May 24, 1930 — Sep 25, 2026
Viola Rosemary Miller of Elbert, Colorado, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2026 with her devoted husband by her side. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, friend, and child of God.
Vi was born on May 24, 1930 in Frederick, Colorado to Daniel and Liberta (Villani) DiSalle. She attended Frederick High School in Frederick, Colorado, where she played softball and volleyball. After high school, she trained as a secretary and worked for several insurance companies in downtown Denver. A self-described “clotheshorse,” she was often the best-dressed woman in the room. She met Don Miller, the love of her life, through the Cathedral Club, a social group for single Catholic adults in Denver. They married on April 23, 1960, the beginning of a love story that lasted nearly seven decades.
After living in Denver briefly, the couple moved to Parker, Colorado where they spent the next thirty-four years raising their four children and establishing Don Miller Greenhouse Company. When Don retired and the two became empty-nesters, they left Parker and moved to their ranch in Elbert where Vi built the house of her dreams. She loved entertaining there and usually greeted her guests with, “What can I get you to eat?” Vi happily lived out the rest of her days participating in Bible study, rosary group, and many outings with the Red Hat Society. Collecting all those hats was half the fun. She loved to read, dance, and visit with friends.
Having married a man in the carnation business, she made gorgeous flower arrangements. There was always a beautiful carnation centerpiece at every school band concert, award banquet, and piano recital. Viola was a doting wife and a wonderful mother who encouraged her kids to participate in (and chauffeured to) all the many activities such as swimming, horseback riding, piano lessons, 4H, baseball, football, and basketball.
Vi remained the best dressed woman in the room all the way to the end thanks to her lovely nurse, Jaime Jordon, who took care to dress her each day in all her beautiful clothes, always with a fresh manicure and a splash of perfume. The family is forever grateful for such wonderful care.
Vi is survived by her loving husband, Donald, their children Mark (Loralee) Miller, Mariann (Donald) Maestas, Michelle (Steve) Hoffman and her four grandchildren Kevin Maestas, Andrew Maestas (Ashlynn), DJ Maestas, Paige Hoffman, Drew Hoffman, and one great-grandson Rocco Maestas, and another on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Liberta DiSalle, her brother, William DiSalle, her sister, Helen Disalle, and her son, Donald Miller II.
Services for Viola will be held on October 14th at Our Lady of the Visitation, 34201 County Road 33 Kiowa, CO. Visitation will start at 10:00, followed by a rosary at 10:30, a funeral mass at 11:00, and burial at 12:30. Concluding the burial will be a reception in the church hall.
