Willie Eugene Burroughs
Oct 9, 1944 — Sep 2, 2026
Willie Eugene Burroughs, known affectionately as Bill and Billie, passed away on September 2, 2026, in Aurora, Colorado. He was 81 years old. Born on October 9, 1944, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Willie lived a life defined by service, laughter, and an enduring love for the people around him.
A proud graduate of Tuskegee University, Willie devoted much of his life to serving his country in the United States Air Force. His military career carried him across the nation and beyond, with assignments at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver and Wheeler Army Airfield in Hawaii. During the Vietnam War, he held a command in the Alaskan Aleutian chain, a testament to his leadership and dedication. He retired with distinction as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1989, having earned the respect and admiration of all who served alongside him.
In 1964, Willie became a member of the Tuskegee Lambda Epsilon Chapter of Omega Psi Phi, Inc., a brotherhood he cherished throughout his life. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he was a man who loved deeply and lived fully. A loving husband and devoted father, he was known for his kindness and generosity, his ready laughter, and his genuine affection for people. In his leisure, he enjoyed a good round of golf and was an avid follower of sports, taking special delight in football and basketball.
Willie was a man of faith, and his Christian beliefs guided him with quiet strength throughout his life. That faith now offers comfort to those he leaves behind, assuring them that he rests in the peace and grace of the Lord.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Denise; his two sons, Darren and Sean; and a cherished grandson, Hadrian, along with a host of extended family and friends whose lives he touched.
