Barbara R. McBride

Barbara R. McBride (nee Schinke), 94, of Sun City, Arizona, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, passed away at home on September 11, 2026, leaving a void her family cannot fill.

She was born in Cleveland on August 23, 1932 to Alwin and Emelia Schinke. In 1997 she retired to enjoy the warmth and sunshine of Arizona. Barbara loved to travel, loved music, and animals, especially her constant companion Bentley.

Barbara was a devoted and loving mother to her son, J. Kyle Pickett (Linda), and her daughter, Pamela B. Placek. Her world revolved around her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed.

Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, Alvin Schinke, and sisters, Loretta Purtell and Carol Cepek. Barbara is survived by her children, three grandchildren: Jason Pickett (Erin), Kevin Pickett (Cecilia), and Jeremy Pickett (Kara), and seven great-grandchildren: Cash, Weston, Liam, Amelia, Isla, Redmond, and Nell, all of whom affectionately called her “Nanny”.

Services will be privately held in California. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
