Carla Denise O'Brien

Carla Denise O’Brien, 72 of Peoria, AZ passed away on September 20, 2025. Carla was born on August 19, 1953 in Linton, Indiana to Carl K. Corbin and Dorothy L. Corbin (Nelson).

She grew up mainly in Worland, WY, working as a carhop at A&W and graduated in 1971 from Worland Senior High School.  She went on to graduate from beauty school and spent a majority of her life in Gillette, WY, with two other sisters, working as a hair dresser, secretary for the coal mines and was partner in an auto dealership. While in Gillette, she had her only child, Nikki, in 1975 and married Michael O’Brien in 1986 in a Las Vegas ceremony. They then moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1991 and divorced later in 1999. Carla’s main achievement was working for JP Morgan Chase bank, as a Collection Specialist, for over 33 years.  She is attributed for bringing in millions of dollars for the bank.

Carla was known for living a very simple life. She was all about family and loved her daughter-Nikki, grandchildren- Maddie, Devon & Sydney, and great grandchild-River. She loved to spoil them rotten and enjoyed when all the family get-togethers.  Her best friends were Bree & Elaine. She loved being and laughing with them very much. She also enjoyed gambling, shopping and ready magazines. Carla was all about the hair & lipstick, having her nails done, makeup, perfume, purses and clothes.  She was a believer in that you work hard, so you can have those fancy houses and cars and a pretty life.

She is survived by her daughter Nikki (Craig) Murphy of Surprise, AZ; grandchildren, Maddie (Jeremy) Bentson of Peoria, AZ, Devon Christensen and Sydney Murphy, both of  Surprise, AZ;  great grandchild, River Bentson of Peoria, AZ;  Sisters, Demaris Dishion, Cheyenne, WY, Cheryl (Mike) Rideout, Gillette, WY, Mitzi (Jeff) Nordstrom, Cheyenne, WY;  Several nieces and nephews and best friends Bree and  Elaine.

She was preceded in death by ex-spouse, Michael O’Brien, Phoenix, AZ; Father, Carl Corbin, of Indiana; Mother and Step Father, Dorothy & David Swing, Gillette, WY; sister, Ronda Johnson, Gillette, WY; Brother and Sister-in-law, John & Donna Corbin.
