Judith Ann Cook

The daughters of Judith Ann Cook of Duarte, CA are saddened to announce the passing of their beautiful mother on July 15, 2026, at the age of 90 years. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

Judith was a resident of Duarte for over 65 years. She was a devoted wife, great mother, wonderful grandmother, also a private, caring, kind, humble person with a good sense of humor. Judith was loved by everyone. She was involved in several organizations; City of Hope, Royal Oaks Elementary School PTA, Wondering Foot Quilt Guild, Stitch and Bitch Quilting Group. She loved quilting, spending time with her friends in the Stitch and Bitch Group, camping, gardening, dancing, water skiing, and playing Bunco. At age 50 she went white river rafting down the American River. After retiring at age 72 Judith began making silver jewelry and became a glass and polymer artist making beautiful jewelry and she joined the Altadena/Pasadena Open Studio and San Gabriel Valley Polymer Guild.

As a child Judith spent time with her grandparents on their farm known as “The Ranch” but she didn't really like going there because it was too rustic and she was really a true city girl. However, she did like spending time with her grandmother. Her grandmother taught her how to make butter and feed the chickens. She loved playing in the creek during the day. Because of the gas rationing during the war, they didn't go far for vacations, so they would go to Laguna Beach. Judith loved going to the beach with her mother to see the tide pools. At the age of 10 Judith and her friends started a group called “The Kit Kat Club”, they visited, played games together, and ate snacks made by their mothers. She also loved to read a variety of books because she loved gaining new knowledge. Judith was writing a book titled “My childhood memories and other nonsense”. She grew up during WWII, so her book was what she experienced as a child during those times. She experienced air aids, rationing, no internet, no TV, along with both good and bad/hard times.

After she had grandchildren, she loved spending time with them, reading, playing games, sleep overs, taking them on picnics and much more.

Judith is survived by her two daughters, Laura (Dale) and Cynthia (Jimmy); five grandchildren, Todd (Ashley) Christin (Brian), Nicole, Michael and Shelby; six grandchildren, Jayce, Nathan, Bradley, Ethan, Koedn, Maddie; one brother, Denis (Lorna); two nephews, Paul (Debie) and Ryan (Amy); one great niece, Sierra; and one great nephew, Erick.

Judith is preceded in death by her husband: James; her parents, Julian and Clara; her grandparents; Andrew and Anne and James and Edna; and all her childhood/high school friends.

A celebration of life will follow at a later date.
