Amanda Long
Mar 15, 1961 — Oct 15, 2025
Amanda Faye Long, 64, of Grants, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Grants, Amanda lived a life defined by resilience, warmth, and joy.
She had been courageously battling breast cancer since May and was making remarkable progress. After suffering a massive stroke on October 8, she passed a week later, embraced by those who loved her most.
Amanda was a fighter. After losing her leg in 2011, she never let it slow her down. She remained active and passionate—especially about rockhounding. Her home was filled with beautiful stones she collected, each one a reflection of her adventurous spirit. Amanda also loved camping, especially in the beloved Zuni Mountains and Elephant Butte Lake. She found peace and joy in these places, and her spirit will forever echo in the places she cherished most.
She never met a stranger and greeted everyone with kindness and laughter. Her sense of humor rivaled that of a seasoned comedian, and her bold, unforgettable laugh lit up every room.
Amanda faced deep loss, including the passing of two children—Beauregard at birth and April Flower at six months old. In 1985, she gave birth to her son Robert Carver, the true love of her life. Though life took them on different paths, their bond remained strong and enduring.
She was preceded in death by her brother Doss Long, half-siblings Patricia Mills (Ron), LaVar Brown, Michael Brown and nephew’s Jonathan Long, William Lane-Duran and Cody Adams and by her beloved parents, Bernard and Nona Long. She is survived by her brother Nolan Long (Monica) and sisters Janie Duran (Steve), Denise Martinez (Pete), and Dora Harrell as well as her half-brother James Brown (Echo) and half-sister Elizabeth Adams (Bruce) and various cousins, nephews, and nieces. Along with many other cherished friends and extended family who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Amanda’s legacy is one of love, resilience, and laughter. She loved like no other and will be missed like no other.
