Elsie Madrid

Apr 24, 1933 — Sep 21, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we honor the life and memory of our beloved mother, Elsie Chavez Madrid.

She was a grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and godmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel L. Madrid; her parents, Francisco and Agida Chavez; her sons, Manuel Madrid Jr. and Jerry Madrid; and her daughters, Geraldine Madrid and Ruby Jean Jeanette Madrid-Vasquez.

She leaves behind her children: Beatrice Perry, husband David; Joseph Ronald Madrid; Debbie Madrid-Flores, husband Servando; Angela Baca, husband Gilbert; and beloved ex daughter-in-law Gloriann Madrid-Hernandez, husband Mike.

She also leaves behind many loved ones, friends, and acquaintances who will continue to carry her memory and her love in their hearts.

She was a woman who loved God with her whole heart, whose life was defined by love, strength, creativity, and generosity. If there were one word to describe her, it would be “creator.” She didn’t simply live life—she built it, grew it, cooked it, and shared it with everyone she met.

She had magic in her hands. Whether she was holding a hammer, a paintbrush, a trowel, or a wooden spoon, she knew how to fix things, create things, and make things grow. She loved to build and never hesitated to do the work herself. Her garden was a reflection of her soul—loving, vibrant, and tended with devotion.

She also had a gift for bringing people together through food. You could never leave her home hungry, and you could never leave her presence feeling small. Her door was always open to anyone who needed a meal, a helping hand, a listening ear, or simply a place to feel loved.

What made her truly special was not only what she created with her hands, but what she created in the hearts of the people she touched. She loved generously and without keeping score, always making others feel important, welcomed, and cared for.

Her legacy is one of lasting strength, kindness, hard work, and unconditional love. Her tools may be resting now, and her garden may be quiet, but everything she created will continue to live on through the people she loved.

We find comfort in knowing that she is now in the loving hands of God, where there are no more tears, no more sorrow, and no more suffering. We hold close to our hearts the promise that this is not goodbye forever. One day, by God’s grace, we will see each other again.

Rest in peace, Elsie. Thank you for making us feel so loved. Your love, your strength, and your memory will live on in all of us. Until we meet again, may God hold you in His everlasting embrace. We will carry your love with us forever.Memorial Service will take place 10/8/2026 at 10am at The Church of Our Lord.6230 Isleta Blvd SW Albuquerque, New Mexico 87105.
