Jonathan Matthew Singleton
Nov 24, 1968 — Sep 7, 2026
Our beloved, Jonathan Matthew Singleton, departed this Earth for Heaven on September 7th, 2026. John was born on November 24, 1968, in Roswell New Mexico at Easter New Mexico Medical Center. He was called John by those who knew him best. John lived his early childhood years in Roswell, where he excelled in sports and academics. John graduated from Roswell High School in 1985. John also attended Manzano High School, in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he participated in basketball and football. He lived several years in Carbondale and Murphysboro Illinois. While there he attended John A. Logan Junior College where he attained an associate’s degree in Sociology.
After graduation, John returned to Albuquerque where he gained employment with an Alliance Data, in which later, became Bread Financial. He was dearly love and respected by his colleagues and leadership. He loved cooking and eating, but ironically John loved to cook for others more than himself. He was locally known and sought after for his authenticate home-made salsa. His greatest love was being at home and cooking for family and friends.
Jonathan was introduced to church as an infant and attended church most of his life. He was baptized at Calvary Chapel in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and continued his life in faith. The last years of his life was dedicated to love for Jesus and His word. He brought great joy and laughter to everyone he met. He was involved in various organizations in the community as a volunteer. Like the organizations he volunteered for, he was known for tremendous sympathy and empathy for the homeless, addicted, and incarcerated population.
He thrived to have a heart like Jesus. And in his humanity, he succeeded more than he failed because he knew he was covered by the blood of the Cross.
John is survived by his mother Cathy Singleton, siblings Joycelyn Dixon, Mark Singleton, and Allan Singleton. His children Matthew and James Singleton, Kevin Davis, his daughter Megan LaRay Singleton, 9 grandchildren, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Lonzie and Leurenzie Singleton, and one son TaCorey Singleton.
Johns’ life will be celebrated on October 15, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church West, 6400 Golf Course Road NW, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87120.
A reception will follow immediately after the memorial.
