Jose Aparcio Montoya

Jose Montoya of Cuba, New Mexico, age 21 has passed unexpectedly on October 7, 2026.

Jose is known for his beautiful smile, his laid-back spirit and his loyalty to his family and friends. Jose lived his life to the fullest. 

If Jose wasn't working on upgrading his truck, you could find him near water with a fishing rod in his hands and a fishing vest that's seen better days. Jose lived by one motto: "Time spent out by the water fishing with family and friends was gunna be a good day". Jose is one of a kind, with his cowboy hat, funky glasses and jewelry. Jose had a heart of gold and a smile an personality that would light up a room. 

Jose is and will always be cherished by his family and friends. 

Above all he loved his family. He had a caring heart and was always looking out for others.

Jose may be gone from our sight, but he will never be gone from our hearts. Until we meet again, may he rest peacefully with the open road ahead, the sound of country music in the air and a fishing rod in hand. Forever loved, forever missed and never forgotten. 

Jose is survived by his mother Erica  Romero (Dion) and his father Isaac Montoya (Amber). His sister Analysia (Mariano), brother Antonio (Shawniyah). As well as his grandparents, uncles, aunties, cousins, niece and nephew. 

Jose is preceded in death by his great grandparents Ernesto and Frances. His uncles Ryan and Nerky. 

Funeral Service will take place Saturday, October 31, 2026.

Mass: 11:00am 
Burial will immediately follow at the catholic cemetery in Cuba, reception to follow at fairgrounds.
