Michelle Renee Lerma, age 57, born in Portales, New Mexico and resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico, entered into Eternal Rest on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
She is survived by her life partner, Sam Zamora; her children, Anthony Maestas (Roxanne Landin) and Krystle Maestas (Sal Martinez); her stepchildren, Sam Zamora III and Samantha Zamora (Victor); her brothers and sisters, Beatrice Lucero (Benny), Viola Chavez, Rose Sanchez, Frances Garcia, Josie Apodaca (Steve), Diana Lucero, Johnny Lerma, Danny Lerma (Patricia), Robert Valdez Jr. Half siblings; Dominic Lerma (Jessica), Janice Ulibarri (Jerome), Marie Cornell Lerma, Chris Valdez, Sandra Washburn, Lisa Alvarado, Yvonne Pullen, Jeremy Valdez; her ten grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, friends, and her Dialysis family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Petra Lerma; her brothers, Arnold Lerma, Mark Lerma and Ray “Jr” Lerma, her biological parents; Manuel Lerma and Suzie Valdez; and her half- sister Christine Cornell Lerma.
Michelle will be remembered for her joyful spirit, sense of humor, quick wit, and deep love for her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking (very meticulous), camping, spending time at the lake, shopping for others, and finding that special gift for those she loved.
Despite ongoing health challenges, Michelle remained strong and positive, facing each day with resilience and grace. We will miss her dearly, our Michelle “Shellie” Lerma.
A Holy Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 9:30am, Funeral Mass will be at 10am, St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11509 Indian School Rd NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Pallbearers will be Dominic Lerma, Sam Zamora III, Sal Zamora Jr., Adam Lucero, Sam Zamora IV and Cornelio Zamora.
May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the Mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen
