Paul J. Vigil

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Paul J. Vigil.  Paul was born in Cleveland, NM, on July 21, 1957.  The family moved to Colorado, where Paul grew up in the early 70's.  Paul moved back to New Mexico with Uncle Frank and Aunt Jenny Romero in Holman, NM.  That's when he learned the love of the mountains and the serenity that came with it.  Paul graduated from Mora High School in 1975.  Paul was a very quiet man.  He became a plumber.  He worked for Toro Plumbing, Sophia's Plumbing, and ATEM Plumbing in Albuquerque.  He loved to visit with family and friends, but his biggest love was the remodeling the house in the Colonias that was given to him by his mom.  He took his grandkids there so they could learn to love the place that he loved the most.

Paul is preceded in death by his grandparents Belamino and Rebecca Romero, Esteven and Fidelia Vigil, his father Evaristo (Tito) Vigil, his mother Susie R Vigil, and his sister Loraine (Lulu) Vigil.  Also, many uncles, aunts, and cousins of the Vigil and Romero families.  

He is survived by his partner of 42 years Carmen Edwina Montoya of Bernalillo, his son Tito Matthew Vigil (Denise) of Bernalillo, his grandchildren Amariah and son, Analise, Matt, Daniel, Jeremiah, Jasmine, Ariel, Josiah, Angelo, Sophia, and Zoe.  His sisters Frances Martinez (Pete) (Mora), Cindy (Stef) Vigil, (Chacon), Anita Vigil (Texas), nephews and nieces William Johnson (Albuquerque), Rebecca Hohner (Tom) (Albuquerque), Antonette Romo (Tim) (Chacon), April Martinez (Mora), Jessica Marquez (Justin) (Abilene, TX), Sarah Martinez Cantu (Brian) (Las Vegas, NV).  Great nieces and nephews Joshua, Andrew, Waylon, Lily, Justin, Liam, Yara, Lucas, Jeremy, Jacey Lu, Annie, Lexie, and Zach.  Special cousins James (Indio) Gallegos, Steve Vigil (Renee) and Lauren Romero (Judy.)

Services will be held on July 18, 2026, at 11AM at Mount Calvary Church, Mora, New Mexico.
