Peggy L. Esquibel

Peggy L. Esquibel, age 94, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.

Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Max Esquibel; her son, Danny Esquibel; her brother, Ted Luna; and her cherished cat, Sophie.

She is survived by her loving daughters, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and three nieces.

Peggy had a wonderful sense of style and loved to dress up, carefully coordinating everything from her shoes and purse to her jewelry. She enjoyed traveling, visiting the casinos, and, of course, enjoying good food. Above all, Peggy dearly loved her cat, Sophie, who held a very special place in her heart.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who cared for Peggy during her final days, especially the compassionate staff at UNM Hospital. Your kindness, care, and support will always be remembered and appreciated.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Second Presbyterian Church, 812 Edith Boulevard NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for a birthday celebration in Peggy’s honor. She had been looking forward to her birthday party, and this gathering will be a special way to celebrate her life and the joy she brought to those who loved her.

Peggy will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Cemetery, 924 Menaul Boulevard NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo Boulevard NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
