It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruben Esac Clyde Cruz on October 16, 2026, at the age of 21.

Ruben was a kindhearted and gentle person with a big smile and a special gift for bringing happiness wherever he went. He was the kind of person who could cheer someone up on a difficult day, make people laugh when they needed it most, and brighten a room simply by being himself. Sometimes, all it took was his smile, a silly message, or a few sweet words to remind someone that they were loved. Ruben had a natural way of lifting people’s spirits and helping them feel better, even during life’s hardest moments. His kindness, laughter, and caring heart were gifts that everyone who knew him will always remember.

Ruben enjoyed taking pictures, going fishing, and making memories with the people he loved. One of the greatest joys in his life, however, was his sister, Kendra. Their bond was incredibly special, and Ruben had his own thoughtful ways of showing her how much she meant to him. He would share sweet words to brighten her day or pick up little things he thought she might like simply because he wanted to make her happy. These gestures were more than small gifts; they were reminders of how deeply he loved her. What may have seemed like ordinary moments at the time will forever be treasured memories. The love they shared was truly special, and it will remain in Kendra’s heart for the rest of her life.

Ruben was deeply loved by his family and friends, and his passing has left an emptiness that words cannot fully express. His time here was far too short, but the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the smiles he brought to others will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

Ruben leaves behind his beloved sister, Kendra Mdarquez ; his parents Cammie and Johnny King and Rene and Miriam Marquez ; his uncles, aunts, and cousins; and many dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. Each person will carry special memories of Ruben, remembering his big smile, kind heart, sense of humor, and the way he could make even an ordinary day feel a little brighter.

Though saying goodbye is heartbreaking, Ruben will never be forgotten. The world was brighter with him in it, and his absence will be felt deeply by all who loved him. May his smile live on in the memories he left behind, may his laughter echo in the stories shared about him, and may the love he gave continue to bring comfort to those who miss him most.

Forever loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.

A celebration of Ruben’s life will also be held in Utah at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends once arrangements have been finalized.

Ruben will forever be remembered for his big smile, kind heart, laughter, and the little ways he showed people he cared. His life may have been far too short, but the love he leaves behind will last a lifetime.
