In Loving Memory of Stewart Breeswine
June 1939 – September 19, 2026
On the last Saturday of summer, September 19, 2026, as summer softly yielded its golden sunlight to the quiet dawn of autumn, Stewart Breeswine departed this earthly realm peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, following a brief stay at Presbyterian Hospital. His journey began in the quaint and historic town of York, Pennsylvania, born on the bright first Saturday of summer in 1939 to Melvin Breeswine Senior and Ruth Mann.
A proud and distinguished veteran, Stewart stood as a steadfast guardian of liberty, dedicating nearly 27 years of selfless, honorable service to the United States Air Force and the New Mexico Air National Guard at Kirtland Air Force Base from 1959 to 1985, ultimately retiring with distinction at the rank of Master Sergeant.
Beyond the noble call of military duty, Stewart embraced life’s rich tapestry with vibrant passion and infectious enthusiasm. He possessed a true master’s touch in carpentry, found tranquil harmony in the tender rhythm of gardening, and treasured every moment spent dancing, wandering among majestic mountain peaks, or lovingly caring for God’s creatures, both wild and domestic. An ardent and lifelong lover of athletics, he cheered passionately for track, football, baseball, and basketball, remaining a fiercely devoted UNM Lobos fan and an enchanted admirer of the Olympic Games.
At the very core of Stewart’s being was his unshakable Christian faith and an extraordinary, open-hearted spirit. Stewart lived a life overflowing with unconditional love, joyful laughter, and selfless dedication to his family and community. His earthly journey was profoundly marked by an unwavering commitment to those he held dear and a breathtaking ability to infuse warmth, grace, and kindness into every interaction. Renowned for his gentle spirit and generous heart, Stewart touched countless lives with his genuine care, profound empathy, and thoughtful presence. He stood as an immovable cornerstone of strength and comfort for his family and friends—remembered eternally for his firm convictions, wise counsel, and radiant humor that could illuminate even the darkest hour, ever inspiring those around him to embrace joy and share a smile.
Celestial Reunion
He is reunited in celestial peace with his beloved parents, Melvin Breeswine Senior and Ruth Mann; his siblings, George Senior, Naomi & husband Dale Newcomer, and Jacqueline & husband Norvil Aldinger), cherished granddaughters, Ashley and Amber Breeswine; and many other dear family members and friends who preceded him into rest.
Surviving Family
Stewart was the beloved, cherished husband of Prescilla Breeswine, with whom he shared a beautiful and sacred journey of devotion, love, and lifelong companionship. Together, they hand-crafted a family that brought them unbounded pride and immeasurable joy. Survived by her son James, his stepson, Stewart was also a devoted and proud father to his son Garry (wife Veronica). His enduring legacy continues to flourish through his siblings Melvin Breeswine Jr. (wife Nedra) and Doris Slenker (Ken -d) his cherished grandsons Matthew Breeswine (wife Cherisse), Bryan Breeswine (wife Michelle), and Jesse Breeswine; and in his later years, he was richly blessed with four great-grandsons who were the absolute light and warmth of his life: Brixton, Bowie, Benjamin, and Jeremiah; as well as a beautiful, rich tapestry of nieces, nephews, extended family, and treasured friends.
Final Gift
Ever the inquisitive and noble mind, Stewart harbored a lifelong passion for science, particularly the mysteries of forensic science. In a final, magnificently altruistic act conceived three decades ago, he donated his body to the UNM School of Medicine—a supreme gift of selflessness designed to help train future generations of healers and serve humanity.
