Charlie Gurule

Charlie Michael Gurule age of 86 passed away July 4, 2026, of Parkinson’s at his sister’s home in Los Lunas NM.
Charlie was born on May 17, 1940, in Albuquerque NM. Charlie was employed by Hyatt Regency for 21 years and was and exceptional employee, he was a certified Plumber, he went to TVI where he studied Business education.
Charlie had to drop out of high school in the 11th grade and stayed home to care for his younger siblings, he managed to get his high school diploma. He worked in construction and the state fair to continue his education.
Charlie walked with a crutch for support, to the barber shop and store for the newspaper. He also loved sports. He was once a pitcher for the minor leagues he was forced to quit due to a damaged elbow. He loved baseball so much that he asked to engrave a baseball pitcher on his headstone.
Charlie also loved reading, riding his bike also he enjoyed fishing, and playing his guitar and recording music like salsa, the blues and ranchero music.
Charlie never had children of his own, he was a godfather, brother, uncle and a great uncle to some siblings he was like a father to them. He had a big heart! He will be greatly missed.
Charlie is survived by his sisters Joan Calcutt, Rose Gutierrez, Evelyn Baldonado, Marilyn Flores, and brother Herman Gurule and his wife Catherine.
He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Lucero Gurule, and father Henry Gurule and 10 siblings.
Charlie asked to be cremated with no viewing. Visiting will be held at 9:00am with the rosary to follow at 9:30am the Mass will be at 10:00am this will take place at San Clemente Parish 244 Luna Ave Los Lunas NM, 87031 On August 20, 2026. Followed by the reception at the parish hall at the back of the church. Charlie will be placed to rest at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery 1900 Edith Blvd NE, In Albuquerque after the reception.
