Donald David "Dave" Daugherty

Donald David "Dave" Daugherty, 81, passed away on September 20, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after a brief illness.

Dave was born on January 18, 1945, in Columbus, Ohio, to John and Eugenia Daugherty. He served four years in the Ohio National Guard and built a career as a Hydraulic Engineer. Six years ago, he and his beloved wife, Mary, moved from Ohio to New Mexico.

Dave was a devout Catholic who gave generously of himself in service to his parish. He loved the outdoors, woodworking, and gardening, and he was happiest on a road trip out West or riding his motorcycle. He never turned down a sweet, especially Aunt Rita's cherry pie.

Dave could make a friend of anyone he met, and he had a well-known love of practical jokes. His antics earned him the nickname "Awful Dave" from his oldest niece, Rita Ann, a title he wore proudly. Above all, he loved and doted on Mary, and the two cherished their 60 years together.

Dave is survived by his wife, Mary Loraine (Tyson) Daugherty; his five daughters, Renee Rainer (Dennis), Suzanne DeMoss (Brian), Teresa Webb (Adam), Jessica Fair (Eric), and Amanda McTaggart (Shawn); his grandchildren, Kimberly, Jenna Rose, Cody, Dillon, Autumn, Lily, Gavin, Skylar, Alex, Brinlee, Justice, Liberty, Lincoln, Brenden, Victoria, Dominic, Issac, Tommy, Chaz, Hunter, and Elliot; and his great-grandchildren, Hannah, Carson, Benjamin, Luke, Liam, Aria, Quinn, Memphis, Rhett, Preslee, and Luciano, with Sienna on the way; and his siblings, Deloris, Mary Glee, Joann, and John.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eugenia; his brothers, Robert and Victor; his sister-in-law, Rita Hecker; and his brothers-in-law, Michael and Ronald Tyson, and PT Wade.
