Lawrence Velasquez
1934 — 2026
Forever in our hearts; Lawrence “Larry” Velasquez
Came into this earth on the 10th of August of 1934. Lived a long, happy life till the very end- On the 19th of May of this year.
Lawrence is proceeded in death by his wife Elia Velasquez, son Michael Velasquez, daughters; Theresa Velasquez and Angela Velasquez. Along with many more loved ones that we have sadly lost as the years have gone by.
He is succeeded in death by his surviving children; Elizabeth Velasquez, Anthony Velasquez, Sandra Duran, Joanne Sands, Debbies Velasquez, Henrietta Martinez, and Reina Miera. Along with all those who had the honor to call him grandpa.
Our hearts still ache with sadness, and the many tears still flow remembering all the beautiful moments shared with our dearest Larry. What it meant to lose such a wonderful person as he was will never be known to most. We all knew him to be a man of many traits and sharp as a whip. Many knew he was a successful business owner of “Larry’s Steam Cleaner”. He truly enjoyed all the little things in life, such as playing the accordion, pinon picking, and even taking a little cruise out on the town. He loved playing the accordion, one of his many favorite things to do that brought him so much joy and pleasure. But many also knew his love for the casino too. He just could never get enough of it. Always winning those Jackpots; getting the big bucks!
Lawrence played the accordion and was a prominent member of the catholic church. He first became a member at St. John’s and later in life at St. Anne’s, here in Santa Fe. We all knew him to be a man of great faith in our lord and savior. He was a devoted catholic man, one of the many things he was part of is the Cursillo. A retreat he enjoyed very much to be part of. Full of spiritual renewal and community building to celebrate one's faith. How do we remember spending those days together with him. All the small gatherings- laughing, enjoying each other's company and presence.
Lawrence was also a big family man, having had ten kids. From there all the many grandchildren that came along over the years. Lawrence even got the wonderful privilege to be called a great, great grandfather to many little kiddos. He always cherished spending time with all the family. Family had always been the most important thing to him. Always creating special unforgettable moments that are engraved in memories we all share. We will forever hold all the wonderful times shared with him close to our hearts. In our hearts that is where he will forever remain, to walk with us in this journey we call life- Till we meet again.
Lawrence services are going to be held at St. Anne’s Parish on June 19th. Rosary will start at 10 am and mass will follow at 11 am.
His burial will be held after mass at the Agua Fria Cemetery.
