Obituary for Pauline N. Candee 

Pauline Natalie Candee entered eternal life early the evening of Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at her home in El Rancho NM. 

Pauline was born on July 27, 1928 in Pecos NM the third child of Pablo and Luz Martinez. She spent a happy childhood with her eight siblings in Pecos. She married very young and attended El Camino College, Torrence CA and Ponce Beauty College, Palo Alto CA and began her lifelong career in cosmetology. Pauline lived in Santa Fe NM; Anaheim, Laguna Woods, Mission Viejo, Redondo Beach, and Santa Ana CA and in the UK.

 Pauline married Phillip Candee in 1975. She returned to New Mexico after the death of her husband in 1996. Pauline was an artist painting in oils and acrylics, fashioning jewelry in gold and precious stones, embroidering in glass beads and silks, and created porcelain dolls firing parts in her own ceramic kilns. In retirement, she took craft classes at the El Rancho Senior Center. She enjoyed selling her art at crafts fairs and holding the occasional yard sale. Pauline enjoyed vacationing throughout Europe and Mexico. Mrs. Candee attended Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe del Valle de Pojoaque Catholic Church. 

Pauline is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Phillip S. Candee; her siblings, Rosario Gutierrez, baby brother Ramon Martinez, Consuelo Dominguez, Ramona Janecek, Roberta Perez, Benigno Martinez, Alice Lopez, and Mary Lopez; her sons Frank Whittington and Michael Quintana; her granddaughter Samanthajo Salazar; and the fathers of her children Ralph W'hittington and Sigifredo Quintana.

 Pauline is survived by her sons, James Whittington (Susan) of El Rancho and Espanola NM and Sam Whittington (Irma) of Pecos NM. She is also survived by her sisters, Josephine Roybal (Gerald) of Rio Rancho NM and Arlene Muhich of Winchester CA. Also surviving are grandsons, James Whittington III (Hana Bagully) of San Marcos CA and Charles Lewis (Gina) Of Corrales NM; and granddaughters, Nadean Whittington of Rio Rancho NM and Andrea Whittington-Spanarkel of Santa Fe; 13 great- grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

Cremation has taken place and services will be announced at a later date.
