Doris Anne Klock

April 29, 1927 to June 25, 2026 (age 99)

Doris was born in Colon, Panama, to Manly Meissner and Hazel (Kleeberger) Meissner. The family moved to California in 1928, and she grew up in the Eastvale area (Mira Loma) with her younger brother, Loren. She married James L. (Jay) Klock on Oct. 10, 1947, and raised four children, Roy (b. 1949, m. Mary Lou), Glen (1954, m. Twila Rochelle), John (1957, m. Christine) and Timothy (1963).

Doris is survived by son John, two daughters-in-law, two grandsons, two granddaughters, six great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Doris was known for her work with the Church of God, including cooking and translating for Vacation Samaritans camps in Mexico and many years of service as Sunday School teacher and Board of Trustees member. She attended Chaffee Junior College in 1945-46 and returned to college for her degree in psychology at San Diego State College (now University) in the 1960s.

She collected and organized many genealogy records, visiting family in the Midwest, Northeast and Cornwall to learn stories of family ancestors and gather photographs.

Doris enjoyed traveling, helped by passes on Greyhound bus lines, where Jay was a driver. For years they traveled by RV as well. She saw most parts of the United States, as well as Nova Scotia and Banff in Canada, but she also traveled to England to meet a wartime pen pal, to Switzerland and Thailand to visit family working there, and to Germany for genealogical research.

She is remembered for great kindness to family members, including taking in a cousin, David McDonnell, to raise for many years and look out for even as an adult. She was proud to have drawn the plans and installed the wiring for the house built mainly by Jay in Lake Elsinore, CA, where they lived for many decades.

For the last two years of her life she moved to assisted living near John in Denver.
