Edna Marie Barela

With extreme sadness we announce the passing of our mom, Edna Marie Barela, age 69, on May 28, 2024, in Aurora, Colorado.  She was born in Walsenburg, Colorado on October 20, 1954.  

Edna was preceded in death by her son Gabriel, her father Alonzo, her mother Bridget, her brother Freddie, her sister Yolanda, and her brother David.

Edna is survived by her children Adam, Eve (Jason), Regina and Valerie. Her grandchildren David, Antwanique (Chris), Daniel, Isaac, Dominick, Vivian and Marina B.  Her great grandchildren Xavier and Aliza. Her siblings Marvin, Cynthia and Elizabeth, along with many nieces and nephews.

Edna was a vivacious, petite person with mighty strength, determination and great stubbornness. She loved her family and her fur babies unconditionally.  She was always reading and expanding and sharing her knowledge.  Her love for trying new foods and always sharing her new found “goodies”. She also taught her grandchildren to “Stop and smell the flowers” and to enjoy all the pretty things.  She was a strong believer in God and in anyone's time of struggle she would simply state "Just Have Faith".

The Memorial Service will be held on June 20, 2024, at 1pm at Romero Funeral Home (15150 East Iliff Avenue,  Aurora, Colorado) with reception following.
