Osela Maestas

Osela Maestas (née Jiron), age 84, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, in Arvada, Colorado. Born on April 20, 1941, in Lobatos, Colorado, Osela lived a full and vibrant life rooted in love for her family and an unwavering spirit.

Osela was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfonso Maestas. Together they built a life centered around family and resilience. She is survived by her devoted children: Mike (Susan) Maestas, Rick (Lisa) Maestas, Liz Maestas, Theresa (Jeff) Holman, Mary Maestas, and Angela (Greg) Hanes. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren—Bri Maestas, Brandon (Elena) Maestas, Luke Maestas, and Jacob Maestas—and great-grandchildren Halen and Lenin Maestas. She also leaves behind her brother John Jiron and sister Ernestine Jiron.

Those who knew Osela will remember her as loving and caring, with a fierce independence that defined her character. She was strong-willed yet kind, feisty yet generous—a woman who would do anything for her family. Her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aromas of meals prepared with love; she was an amazing cook whose dishes brought people together and created lasting memories.

Osela’s strength and warmth touched all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by those whose lives she enriched.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A Rosary will be held on February 24, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Spirit of Christ Catholic Church, 7400 W 80th Ave, Arvada. Viewing begins at 4:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on February 25, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Spirit of Christ Catholic Church, 7400 W 80th Ave, Arvada. Viewing begins at 10:30 AM and the service will be live streamed for those who can't attend in-person. Interment will be on February 25, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd, Denver. A reception will be hosted on February 25, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Bread Winner's Cafe, 7311 Grandview Ave, Arvada.
